Jason Stillwell, a Bruce Lee fan, is beaten numerous times and trains from the ghost of Lee. Jason then must use his newly acquired skills to save Seattle from a crime syndicate, whose top martial artist is the deadly Ivan. HAHA. This movie is great. Although the acting is retchid, and the film itself is a bit corny, you have to love it. Through all the flaws of this flick you will still find yourself enjoying this movie and waiting to see what happens next. This was Jean-Claude Van Damme's first starring role(somewhat). Even if you hate the guy you have to give him props, his acting however bad it is now has improved a million times over from his acting in this. The fighting scenes are so-so, the music and surroundings and characters are so 80's that it makes you wish you could go back to the 80's and relive old memorys. Kurt McKinney, the guy who starred in this as Jason Stillwell is an icon and should be doing more work in movies today. Haha great cheesey flick, you will love it trust me! I loved it…the original film of the series is a great find for martial arts fanatics. Seeing this for the 1st time at the age of 7 and finding it on video 7 years later on a class trip to D.C., I had to get it.

Corey Yuen's 1st international film, the film features present soap opera Kurt McKinney and a young Jean-Claude Van Damme as the teen Rocky and Ivan Drago-kung fu style. Loved the little comparison of "Seattle Karate" and "L.A. Karate"…so reminiscent of those ol' kung fu films of yor. Excellent fight scenes and the Bruce-alike Tang Lung (aka Kim Tai Chung) as Bruce Lee's ghost makes this a classic 80's US kung fu flick. A deliciously bad reworking of The Karate Kid, with just a touch of Rocky IV tossed in.
